| Description: | VICTIM ADVOCATE (VOLUNTEER- NON PAID POSITION) |
| Duties: | *Provide on-call services for the Adams County Sheriff's Office by responding to crime scenes, police stations, or other designated areas.
*Volunteers are required to commit to a minimum of 4 shifts per month for a minimum of 1 year
*Serve as an informed source of support to the victim during the immediate crisis. Work closely with various community organizations and services; make referrals on the basis of specific needs.
*Attend each monthly meeting. |
| Qualifications: | *Must be 21 years old to apply
*Must possess a High School Diploma or GED
*Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license and have a good driving record
*Must have reliable transportation with motor vehicle insurance
Interested candidates should possess sensitivity and good communication skills in working with crime victims. Candidates should have the ability to work well with members of the community, specifically law enforcement officers and hospital personnel.
Candidates are required to successfully complete an initial 40-hour training session.
The selection process includes a background investigation and psychological examination. Candidates must successfully pass both of these to be considered for the program. |
